The General Purpose (GP) Rating Course is a 6-month DG Shipping approved pre-sea training program — the fastest and most accessible entry into the Merchant Navy. Candidates are trained in seamanship, engine room operations, fire safety, and survival at sea.
After completing this course and obtaining the necessary certificates, candidates join ships as Ordinary Seamen, Deck Ratings, or Engine Ratings and can progressively advance to officer levels through sea time and competency examinations.
DNS is a 1-year residential pre-sea training program approved by DG Shipping. It is the most popular fast-track route for students who want to become Deck Officers in the Merchant Navy. After completing the DNS course and 18 months of sea time, candidates can appear for the 2nd Mate (FG) examination.
A full undergraduate degree in Maritime navigation and shipping operations. Globally recognised qualification for aspiring Deck Officers.
B.Tech Marine Engineering is a 4-year undergraduate program that prepares students to maintain and operate the complex machinery of modern ships. Graduates join as Marine Engineer Cadets and can rise to the prestigious rank of Chief Engineer.
The curriculum combines traditional mechanical/electrical engineering with specialised maritime subjects like Marine Diesel Engines, Ship Propulsion, Boiler Technology, and Engine Room Management.
The ETO is a specialised officer on modern ships responsible for all electrical, electronic, and automation systems. This is a relatively new but highly demanded position in the merchant fleet.
Graduates with B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering can take a DG Shipping approved short course (3–6 months) to qualify as ETO and join international vessels.
